Biltricide (Praziquantel) is an anthelmintic medication, known to contain an active substance called Hygroscopic and is used in the treatment of varied types of worm infections. This medication may also be described as a white to off – white, crystalline powder and is known to have a bitter taste.
Biltricide is made up of Tramadol and Acetaminophen. Tramadol is a narcotic pain reliever and belongs to a group of medication known as opiate agonists. Acetaminophen, a non–narcotic although less effective against pain, increases Tramadol’s potency.

Biltricide (Praziquantel) is used to effectively treat liver flukes, flatworm and tapeworm infections. But, this medication is ineffective in the case of pinworm or other roundworm infections.
Biltricide is a short-term medication with a dosage of 2 tablets every 4 – 6 hours. Generally dosage doesn’t exceed more than 8 tablets per day. For aged patients or for users with creatinine lesser than 30 mL/min, the dosage should not exceed 2 tablets within 12 hours.
Biltricide can have severe side effects like convulsions, delirium, anxiety, increase in heart rate, vomiting, nausea, upset stomach, skin rash, Weakening of pulse etc.
Other milder side effects could include: Weakness, drowsiness, stomachache, vision issues, parching of mouth, Insomnia
There could be other possible side effects as well. Physician should be informed as soon as there is anything out of the ordinary.

Patients allergic to Biltricide components should avoid it. Every situation where opioids are contraindicated, Biltricide is contraindicated. There is warning of acute intoxication with alcohols, narcotics, hypnotics, psychotropic drugs, opioids or centrally acting analgesics. Biltricide may also magnify breathing depression and Central nervous system issues.
This drug should not be repeated without Physician approval even though the symptoms are same as when Biltricide was prescribed earlier.
Immediately inform the doctor / local poison control center (1-800-222-1222 for US patients) in case of overdose emergency. Dial 911 if patient loses consciousness or stops breathing.

Do not increase dosage to compensate for missed doses. Take the dose as soon as user realizes that the dose has been missed (unless there is very less time between the next one in which case just take one dose).
Biltricide can be addictive and induce similar reaction when abused or stopped abruptly. Biltricide can have very serious reactions. It should not be taken in combination with alcohol.
