Flagyl is made up of Tramadol and Acetaminophen. Tramadol is a narcotic pain reliever and belongs to a group of medication known as opiate agonists. Acetaminophen, a non–narcotic although less effective against pain, increases Tramadol’s potency.
Metronidazole is used to treat a variety of infections. It belongs to a class of antibiotics known as nitroimidazoles. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria and protozoa. Flagyl (Metronidazole) may also be described as an oral, synthetic, Antipro – Tozoal and an antibacterial agent. This antibiotic only treats bacterial and protozoal infections. It will not work for viral infections (e.g., common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or overuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.
Flagyl can have severe side effects like convulsions, delirium, anxiety, increase in heart rate, vomiting, nausea, upset stomach, skin rash, Weakening of pulse etc.
Other milder side effects could include: Weakness, drowsiness, stomachache, vision issues, parching of mouth, Insomnia

Patients allergic to Flagyl components should avoid it. Every situation where opioids are contraindicated, Flagyl is contraindicated. There is warning of acute intoxication with alcohols, narcotics, hypnotics, psychotropic drugs, opioids or centrally acting analgesics. Flagyl may also magnify breathing depression and Central nervous system issues.
This drug should not be repeated without Physician approval even though the symptoms are same as when Flagyl was prescribed earlier.
Immediately inform the doctor / local poison control center (1-800-222-1222 for US patients) in case of overdose emergency. Dial 911 if patient loses consciousness or stops breathing.
