This medicine is a loop diuretic. Diuretics increase the amount of urine passed, which causes the body to lose water and salt. Furosemide helps to treat high blood pressure.
Furosemide controls high blood pressure but does not cure it.

Do not increase dosage to compensate for missed doses. Take the dose as soon as user realizes that the dose has been missed (unless there is very less time between the next one in which case just take one dose).
Lasix can be addictive and induce similar reaction when abused or stopped abruptly. Lasix can have very serious reactions. It should not be taken in combination with alcohol.
