Orlistat belongs to a class of medication known as Lipase Inhibitors.
Orlistat is made up of Tramadol and Acetaminophen. Tramadol is a narcotic pain reliever and belongs to a group of medication known as opiate agonists. Acetaminophen, a non–narcotic although less effective against pain, increases Tramadol’s potency.

Patients allergic to Orlistat components should avoid it. Every situation where opioids are contraindicated, Orlistat is contraindicated. There is warning of acute intoxication with alcohols, narcotics, hypnotics, psychotropic drugs, opioids or centrally acting analgesics. Orlistat may also magnify breathing depression and Central nervous system issues.
This drug should not be repeated without Physician approval even though the symptoms are same as when Orlistat was prescribed earlier.
Immediately inform the doctor / local poison control center (1-800-222-1222 for US patients) in case of overdose emergency. Dial 911 if patient loses consciousness or stops breathing.

Do not increase dosage to compensate for missed doses. Take the dose as soon as user realizes that the dose has been missed (unless there is very less time between the next one in which case just take one dose).
Orlistat can be addictive and induce similar reaction when abused or stopped abruptly. Orlistat can have very serious reactions. It should not be taken in combination with alcohol.
